One-third of CRT’s productions are new works, and every year CRT commissions a new show for it’s celebrated Young Audience Outreach Tour (YAOT). The goal of this program is to bring theatre to thousands of kids in rural and underserved communities throughout the Southwest while creating an exciting opportunity for emerging playwrights. Bilingual (English/Spanish) plays are preferred, but not required. With 35 years of successful productions we are looking for playwrights interested in working among a collaborative artistic team.
We are accepting submissions for the 2020 Young Audience Outreach Tour and if you would like to be considered for a commission, please, submit the following by July 2, 2018:
SUBMISSION GUIDLINES
• Cover sheet with your name, contact info, and a synopsis
• 10-20 page excerpt
• Cover letter that indicates experience in the following: touring shows, theatre for young audiences, and/or plays that have been produced.
• Please specify whether you are submitting for YAOT or The KID Show
• Electronic versions are preferred
• Email materials to CRT’s Education Director Johamy Morales - johamy@creederep.com
The Young Audience Outreach Tour develops plays with two actors and based on core curriculum subjects. The following are past curriculum subjects: history of US Presidents, the science of flight, the geography of the United States, the water cycle, the importance of math and literacy, history of the Southwest. For more information on previous productions check out our YAOT page.
